"Hi! My name is Elphas. I love my school because it has a digital room where we have many computers. My best friend is called Perfection, and we love playing together during break time. My favorite meal is pilau, which we enjoy at school. I also enjoy coming to school every day with my twin brother.
When I grow up, I want to become a pilot. Thank you for considering walking alongside me and being part of my journey."
Elphas is friendly, jovial, and bright. He enjoys learning English and Mathematics and is always happy to come to school with his twin brother Eliezer.
He has two siblings: Brilliant (14 years old) and his twin brother Eliezer (7 years old). The twins are in the same class at Kinyago Dandora Schools.
They all live together with their parents in a two-room house in Dandora Phase V. Their father works hard as a boda boda rider (motorcycle taxi rider), ferrying goods and people around the streets of Dandora. Their mother earns a living by cooking mandazi (Kenyan fried dough snacks) and selling them by the roadside. However, their income is very limited and unreliable, and sometimes the family struggles to afford basic needs such as food and rent.
Despite these challenges, the family is immensely grateful that Elphas and his twin brother Eliezer have the opportunity to attend Kinyago Dandora Schools, where they receive quality education, nutrition, healthcare, and guidance and counselling in a supportive environment where they can learn and grow.
Kinyago-Dandora Schools are located in the heart of Nairobi's slums in Kenya, East Africa. Kinyago-Dandora Schools stand as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged children in the community, who face numerous challenges through the provision of quality education, holistic guidance and counseling, nutritious meals, and healthcare. In a country where the population is more than 50 million, Kenya has faced significant hurdles, including epidemics like malaria, cholera, AIDS, and the impact of a devastating East African drought leading to widespread starvation.
