My Story

"Hi! My name is Brighton. I am very happy to be at KDS. I love my school because we eat delicious food and our teachers care for us. My favorite meal is ugali and meat, which we eat at school.

When I grow up, I want to become a teacher.Thank you for considering walking alongside me and being part of my journey."

Brighton is confident, friendly, and responsible. He enjoys studying Environmental Studies and is committed to completing his class assignments.

Brighton has three siblings: Joy (9 years old), Precious (4 years old), and Prince (10 months old). He lives with his siblings and parents in a small one-room house in Dandora Phase IV.

Both of Brighton’s parents do not have stable jobs. His father works as a casual laborer at construction sites whenever work is available, while his mother washes clothes for other people whenever she gets the opportunity. Their income is limited and unreliable, making it difficult for the family to consistently meet basic needs such as food and rent.

Brighton’s parents are excited and deeply grateful to God, to you, and to Kinyago Dandora Schools for the wonderful opportunity Brighton has to attend the school, where he receives quality education, healthcare, nutritious meals, and guidance and counseling.

Kinyago-Dandora Schools

Kinyago-Dandora Schools are located in the heart of Nairobi's slums in Kenya, East Africa. Kinyago-Dandora Schools stand as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged children in the community, who face numerous challenges through the provision of quality education, holistic guidance and counseling, nutritious meals, and healthcare. In a country where the population is more than 50 million, Kenya has faced significant hurdles, including epidemics like malaria, cholera, AIDS, and the impact of a devastating East African drought leading to widespread starvation.

Primary and Junior Secondary Education ~ Our KDS campus has a population of 500 students. The primary level has 400 students while junior secondary has 100 students. Academically, KDS is one of the top schools in the district, boasting an impressive 100% transition rate. Our students not only excel in academics but also shine in a variety of extracurricular activities.

Senior Secondary Education ~ Our Secondary Campus has about 250 students enrolled. Recognized by the Kenyan Ministry of Education as one of the best schools in the Njiru District, KDSS proudly achieves a remarkable 100% transition rate for graduating seniors.

Post Secondary Education ~ Upon completing Grade 12, graduates join Kinyago Alumni Association while they enrol on ICT and Leadership Training Program at KDSS as they prepare to transition to colleges and universities.

The Bernard Sewe Scholarship Fund has been established to support KDSS graduates who attend colleges and universities across Kenya.
